Brad
Renfro, Dana Plato, Todd Bridges, River Phoenix. With the maturation of
every generation comes a new pile of child actors in Hollywood who are
discarded onto the heap of 'Irrelivance' and 'No Longer Needed'. Child stars are adored, catered to, allowed to miss school and given whatever they want. When their careers abruptly end though, very often they find themselves in a world that is not nearly as secure as the one they were just exiled from. The fans, the hair & make-up crew, the directors and agents and casting people, the drama coaches and personal assistants are long gone. And, frequently, so too is the money.
In this episode of Divided By Bickford we talk to a former child actor who was on Broadway three times, worked with the legendary talents of Gene Wilder, Henry Fonda and Morgan Freeman. Her life went from owning Porsches at age eighteen, to a multi-year battle with cocaine and alcohol, to ultimately coming to terms with living life in a regular world of everyday sameness.
